Well, you are right, I don't think there is such a thing as sexy insulators. However, insulators are important to us as they separate us from some raw energy. The Toronto Transit Commission powers their electric streetcars with overhead wires and when different sections come together they place insulators to keep them apart (picture above). I think if a streetcar stops in this section they won't be able to move.
The streetcar insulators are much smaller than the ones used in our power transmission system holding high voltage circuits throughout Ontario.
And this girl is sexy but she is no insulator. I saw her at the recent car show.
